Noisy Dumbasses

From Studies in Pessimism, by Arthur Schopenhauer:
The general toleration of unnecessary noise — the slamming of doors, for instance, a very unmannerly and ill-bred thing — is direct evidence that the prevailing habit of mind is dullness and lack of thought.
The dumbasses will always be with us. But now they have massive subwoofers.
I’m an atheist who believes in the Golden Rule, particularly regarding noise issues. I have church-going neighbors who don’t, apparently. I’m not making any general extrapolations at all, just noting the irony.
