EXCLUSIVE: PBS Stars Rally To NPR’s Defense
March 8, 2011 3 Comments
Flaming Dumbass contacted PBS on-air personalities today for their responses to the controversial taped comments by NPR executives Ron Schiller and Betsy Liley (h/t @misslexi9162):
Mr Rogers: “So let’s just go to the kitchen right now and talk about those racist, xenophobic teabaggers. Do you like kitchens? I certainly do.”
Big Bird: “‘Sesame Street’ is brought to you today by the letters M and B–and our friends at the Muslim Brotherhood!”
Tavis Smiley: “I’m suggesting to you if you think that the way we treat women in this country, with patriarchy still alive and well, sexism still alive and well, is determinative or demonstrative of how well our democracy runs, I think you don’t understand how maltreated women are still in this society. That’s all I’m saying. Sorry, what was the question again?”
Barney: “Happy times are fun to share, except with dirty Jews.”
Bob the Builder: “Xenophobia: Can we fix it? Yes we can!”
Gwen Ifill: “Mmmmmm….”
Ray Suarez: “The pseudo controversies about the Muslim Brotherhood are symbols for a racial calculus hard at work in U.S. politics.”

I don’t care who you are, that shit is funny!
Thank you kindly!
